Inside And Outside

Some people believe that they can be a Christian on the inside only. Others believe that they can be a Christian on the outside only. Both ideas are wrong. If God has not made individuals Christians on the inside AND the outside they are not Christians.

Ephesians 3:17a: That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; . . .

That takes care of the inside.

Luke 6:45: A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

What is on the inside comes to the outside.

Is Jesus Himself the good treasure of your heart and is He Himself the abundance of your heart? Or does He supply the good treasure of your heart and the abundance of your heart? I believe both questions can be answered with a resounding YES! Has He replaced the evil treasure of your heart with Himself and with His good treasure and abundance?

Proverbs 4:23: Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

Is Jesus influencing the issues of your life?

2 Corinthians 5:17: Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

All things means both the inside AND the outside.

Matthew 5:8: Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

A pure heart is one with Jesus in it. A person with Jesus in his heart is beseeched to present his body to Jesus.

Romans 12:1-2: I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Some autos, trucks, and other vehicles have devices called governors. A governor limits how fast the driver can make the vehicle go. Is your flesh governing Jesus or is He governing your flesh? Our flesh believes it is reasonable to slow Jesus down. The Bible says it is our reasonable service to give Him full control.
